2019 READ-A-THON OFFICIAL RULES

  1. Read-A-Thon runs now until school resumes. Only reading during that time counts towards the total minutes read.
  2. Parents can register their readers at CarpenterReads.com which can be used on Desktop and mobile.
  3. Students should track the number of minutes per day that they read to themselves and record these minutes via digital or on the print Reading Log.
  4. The number of pages read must be included or the reading time will not be counted.
  5. Community reading or reading in the classroom does NOT count. Reading must be done on your own time.
  6. Reading should be at the student’s independent reading level. Teachers have the authority to determine if the reading level is appropriate.
  7. TK, Kindergarten, first grade & previously identified students may have books read to them. All other students must read independently.
  8. For paper Reading Logs, each title must be listed on the reading log, number of pages read & initialed by a parent, guardian, coach or teacher.

  9. The honor code must be signed by both student and parent/guardian in order for reading logs to be counted. (For families using the digital reading log, your agreement to follow the school’s honor code is part of the registration process.)
  10. Reading logs can be submitted either digitally or in print (on paper).
  11. Printed reading logs are due in classrooms no later than Friday, October 11th. Digital reading logs must be completed by Friday, October 11th @ 5pm.
